Unhappy with two straight days of disappointing play, UK head coach Mark Stoops told the media after Saturday’s scrimmage that the team would not have the night off like he had originally planned.

“I’m going to get them here again,” Stoops said. “We’re going to go watch the tape as a staff then we’ll bring them back tonight and we’ll watch it again. Unfortunately I think we’ve got something going on in the stadium tonight or I’d like to come back out and do it again.”

While the team was unable to practice in Commonwealth Stadium because of a university related event, Stoops wasn’t kidding about starting the scrimmage over.

The end result could prove to be a turning point before the season even starts. Many observers of Saturday nights practice and several players felt that it was the team’s best session of the preseason.

The amount of games UK wins in Stoops’ third year remains to be seen, but Aug. 22 may go down as one of the most important days of the season.
