Football is back in season and tailgaters are getting ready to takeover UK’s parking lots, but Commonwealth Stadium is not a construction-free zone.

Despite the renovations not being finished, UK Athletics said in a press release it will host various events throughout Saturday to celebrate the grand opening of the stadium remodel.

Free concerts, skydiving and Kentucky Proud foods will accompany the stadium’s debut.

Popular country band, Sundy Best, will be performing a pregame show around 4 p.m. following a performance by Matthew Mitchell and the Go Big Blue Band. Choir singers from every county in Kentucky have been invited to sing the national anthem for the first time on the new field.

The Team Fastrax professional skydiving team will bring in the game ball a few moments before the game begins.

Select concession stands will feature Kentucky Proud products, and drinks will be served in new limited edition Commonwealth Stadium cups.

The entertainment will continue after kickoff. After the first quarter, fans will pose for a stadium-wide picture by Blakeway Worldwide Panoramas.

Students and staff should note that the parking regulations will remain the same as in years past: K-Lot, R7 and Sports Center Drive Lot parking pass owners will need to relocate cars by 7 a.m. on game day.
