Artists will not only play their songs at the Acoustic Jam 2015, they will tell the story behind the music.

Presented by WBUL-FM 98.1 “The Bull” and Hardee’s, the second annual sold-out Acoustic Jam 2015 will be at the Lexington Opera House on Tuesday. Other sponsors of the event include Paul Miller Ford, White, Greer and Maggard Orthodontics, Sleep Outfitters and Speedway.

“It’s a special night where you get the story behind the music from the artists that sing the lyrics,” WBUL programmer Michael Jordan said.

This year’s acts include Charles Kelley, Easton Corbin, Scotty McCreery, Brandy Clark, Thompson Square, Jerrod Niemann, John Michael Montgomery, Raelynn, Lauren Alaina, Craig Campbell and Chase Bryant.

“I won’t miss out on a concert for a good cause,” said Alexis Fulton, a freshman social work major. “I think pediatric cancer awareness around here is a widely promoted thing. (Lexington) always has something going on promoting the kids.”

Last year’s surprise event had 12 artists including Sam Hunt and Hunter Hayes. Each artist performed three songs, talking and joking with each other and the crowd throughout the night.

“If you’re here tonight with someone you’re wildly in love with, let them know,” Hunter Hayes said at last year’s Acoustic Jam.

“It’s for a great cause, and the musicians are always talkative and outgoing, I was looking forward to going this year before realizing it sold out,” said Rebecca Brumlow, a freshman Kinesiology major who attended the concert last year.  

Similar to UK’s Dance Blue, proceeds after expenses will go towards the Kentucky Children’s Hospital. Last year’s Acoustic Jam raised $120,000.

“We love Dance Blue and really respect the work it does,” Jordan said. “We have partnered with them in the past and would be open to working with them again in the future.”

Tickets went on sale for $98 on Nov. 6 and have since sold out at the opera house, but tickets can still be found online.
