Looking for ways to beat the winter cold? Lexington is home to a local yoga studio that redefines the way to finding one’s Zen.

Since 2007, Sterling Hot Yoga Works has been heating up Lexingtonians physically and spiritually. Located at 185 Pasadena Drive near Fayette Mall, the intimate studio is both peaceful and welcoming.

With eight different certified yoga instructors, Sterling offers four different yoga styles and a wide array of classes running from the early morning to the evening. According to its online schedule, Sterling offers classes as early as 6 a.m. and as late as 7:30 p.m. to accommodate even the busiest yogis.

Sterling’s Hot Vinyasa, Iron Hour, Yin Yoga and Sterling 60 are all unique ways to exercise and zen-ify in one sitting. With 26 different postures and two breathing exercises, the traditional 90-minute Ghosh lineage is, “the first class of its kind in Lexington,” said Owner Jodi Orr.

In 2011, Lexington was flagged as “America’s least active city,” by Men’s Health, but Orr and her team have been committed to changing that.

“We offer a $30 first month special and a complimentary class at 3 p.m. the last Saturday of each month,” Orr said.

With thirty bucks one would get an unlimited number of classes for the month. Orr and her team encourage newcomers and veterans alike to come, stretch and experience one of Lexington’s only hot yoga studios.

If you’ve never done hot yoga, the idea can be intimidating. Fortunately, Orr and her team are always eager to help first timers. If you are unsure which class to take, Orr recommended trying the Sterling 60, or Hot Vinyasa.

Hot yoga options are limited in Lexington, but Sterling Hot Yoga Works is committed to offering premier classes taught by some of the best around.

“There are a few other places that have heat in their studios, but we’re the only studio that does hot yoga specifically,” said Hope Tellifero, an instructor who has been teaching since 2012.

So grab a mat (or rent one from the studio), a towel and some water and take one step closer to finding your inner Zen. For everyone eager to escape the winter cold, Sterling Hot Yoga Works has plenty of heat to go around.
