John Calipari added a familiar face to his 2016 recruiting class Sunday afternoon when his son Brad announced via Twitter he would walk on to the team next year.

Brad Calipari walking on for UK has been a possibility since he started his high school career at Lexington Christian Academy.

The 6’0”, 180-pound. guard transferred to MacDuffie School in Massachusetts in 2014 with hopes of developing into a better Division I prospect.

Calipari earned attention from small Division I schools and developed the reputation of being a great shooter.

The announcement may serve as the answer to a lot of questions surrounding John Calipari’s future at UK.

“First of all, my wife has already told me if he decides to come, ‘you’re not leaving,’ so that would mean I’m here five more years,” Cal said regarding Brad coming to UK. “If I’m here five more years, why not stay ’til 70, why not sign a new contract and I’ll be 70 when I leave.”

The announcement of Brad Calipari walking on may not show its value on the court but as long as it keeps his father coaching at UK, it could prove to be one of the most valuable additions in the Cats upcoming recruiting class.
