After a 9-0 shutout to begin the series on Friday, the Cats looked to continue their success in the second game of the three game series against Arkansas in Fayetteville.

The Cats took control early, scoring three runs in the second inning, and never looked back. Christian Stokes hit a single into left-center field to score the first two runs of the inning, and then eventually scored one on her own after Arkansas’ Grace Moll sent a ball past the catcher on a pitch.

The Razorbacks answered back with a run of their own in the second, sending a ball up the middle on an RBI single. This run, however, was the last time Arkansas got on the board. The Cats led 3-1 after the second inning.

After hitting her first career home run yesterday afternoon, Jenny Schaper put on yet another impressive performance, going two for three at the plate. Of the seven Cats that registered a hit, Schaper was the only batter with more than one.

Maisie Steed extended the lead to 5-1 after she sent the ball out of left field on a home run in the top of the fifth inning, her third homer of the season. She scored two runs in the game.

A Brooklin Hinz two-out, two RBI double in the top of the seventh inning put the nail in the coffin, pushing the lead to 7-1, which ended up as the final score of the game.

Junior pitcher Meagan Prince pitched a complete game for her 13th win of the season, giving her a flawless 13-0 record on the year. She gave up only one walk, five hits, one run, and managed to strike out four batters. Prince’s ERA improved to an impressive 1.34 with the win over the Razorbacks.

With the victory, UK moves to 29-4 on the year and 6-1 in the SEC. The Cats are now tied for the top spot in the SEC with the Florida Gators, and look to make a push into the top ten of the updated rankings.

Despite winning the series today, the Cats will still play one more game against the Razorbacks in an Easter Sunday battle at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN3.
