UK junior pitcher Meagan Prince picked up her 15th win of the year at the mound in Sunday night’s 3-0 shutout over conference foe LSU, moving her record to 15-2 on the year.

It was yet another impressive performance for the junior out of Martin, Tennessee, who gave up just five hits and three walks, striking out five Tigers along the way in the complete game. With the shutout, her ERA drops to an impressive 1.59 on the year.

On the offensive side of things, senior outfielder Sylver Samuel led the way with two hits out of three at-bats and an RBI. This strong showing comes just one day after her game winning RBI in the series opener on Saturday.

Senior Maisie Steed put the finishing touches on the Cats’ victory with a two-out, two RBI single to left field in the top of the 7th to score Ansley Smith and Erin Rethlake on the play, which pushed the lead out to 3-0.

This would eventually become the final score of the game after three impressive defensive stops by the Cats in the bottom of the 7th.

Sunday’s victory gave the Cats the series victory over LSU, the first time in program history UK has won a series in Baton Rouge.

UK moves to 33-8 on the year and 10-4 in the SEC with the victory, the best start in school history.

The Cats will look ahead to Monday night at 7 p.m. ET, where they will compete for the series sweep against LSU in Baton Rouge live on the SEC Network.
