UK’s Parking and Transportation Services have extended the deadline for students and employees to apply for a bike voucher.

According to press release, the bike voucher program selects employees and students who live-off campus and gives them a $400 voucher redeemable at local bike shops. The employees or students must sign a two-year car-free commitment, in return.

To be an eligible for a bike voucher, UK Now said the candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Had a parking pass last school year or be a new UK student
  • Have a graduation date or assignment end date within the next two years
  • Be an off-campus student or an employee with an office on campus, which does not include Alumni Park Plaza, Turfland, or Coldstream.

The deadline to apply has been extended to July 14. Those who have already bought a parking pass for the 2016-2017 school year can return the parking pass at a pro-rated refund for a bike voucher, the press release said.

The press release said 100 applicants were chosen out of a pool of 462 during the program’s first year. The goal of the program is to encourage alternatives of driving motor vehicles to campus.
