Since Rupp Arena is currently under construction in preparation for the new season, Kentucky head coach John Calipari has decided to change the annual UK Alumni Charity Basketball Game into a softball classic.

The Lexington Legends have partnered with the Hall of Fame coach and the John Calipari Basketball Fantasy Experience to create the Coach Cal Celebrity Softball Classic, according to a press release from UK.

The event will take place on Aug. 28 at the Whitaker Bank Ballpark in Lexington. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m., and a celebrity home run derby will start at 5:30 p.m. The celebrity softball game will begin at 6 p.m.

The game will feature numerous former Kentucky stars, such as 1978 national champion Kyle Macy, reigning NBA Rookie of the Year Karl-Anthony Towns, 2013 NBA first-round pick Nerlens Noel and recent UK graduate player Alex Poythress.

Other special guests will also appear in the game, including NFL Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter, UK football star Tim Couch, former Cincinnati Bengals running back Ickey Woods, new UK baseball coach Nick Mingione, Kentucky Sports Radio broadcaster Matt Jones and former Cincinnati Reds pitcher Tom Browning.

General admission tickets are $8, premium seating is $20, and the Coach Cal VIP Experience tickets will be $100. All proceeds of the game will go to charity as part of The Calipari Foundation.
