Gender neutral restrooms proposed at Tulane

Madison Rexroat

Tulane’s Undergraduate Student Government (USG) passed a policy six months ago to provide all-gender restrooms in well-frequented buildings on campus.

The student government officials worked with the Tulane University LGBTIQA Policy Group to develop a policy that would work for everyone on campus.

The policy states that “at least one single- or multiple-occupancy all-gender restroom is available in every regularly occupied building on campus by Spring 2018” according to an article by USA Today College. It is intended to make campus life more inclusive to transgender and gender nonconforming students.

The policy still must be approved by the University Senate and passed by the President’s Cabinet in order to be implemented.
