College applications for the class of 2021 reach new highs

Application season is well under way for the graduating high school class of 2017, and with more emphasis than ever on the value of a college education, college applications are soaring.

At several Ivy League schools, applications increased significantly – 18% at Princeton and 5% at Harvard. UCLA applications hit six figures. 

These increases are expected to stem from the early admissions process becoming more popular.

“Early admission appears to be the ‘new normal’ now, as students are applying early to Harvard and peer institutions than ever before,” said William Fitzsimmons, dean of admissions at Harvard.
