Kentucky farms becoming a popular investment

Several millionaire investors are building a safety net for their assets by investing in farms, particularly in Kentucky.

Farms are an attractive and conservative investment because they are tangible and essential to a society. If the economy flounders, as many fear it will, farms will be where the food comes from.

American Farm Investors, a Lexington investment firm, allows stockholders (or landholders) to invest not in an abstract concept, but a solid piece of land that they manage as a community of investors.

“I want to own something very real in this very fake world,” said Kris Schmitz, one of the investors.
