Kentucky representative proposes transgender bathroom bill

Rep. Rick Nelson, a Democrat in the Kentucky House of Representatives, filed a bill on Tuesday that would require public restrooms to be used by those of the designated biological sex. 

The bill, which is similar to the controversial bathroom bill in North Carolina, is not expected to pass. If it does, however, it could lead to significant reactions like it did in North Carolina, where major events were cancelled and business expansions were stopped in protest.

Gov. Matt Bevin said last month that bathroom bills are unnecessary because that problem does not exist in Kentucky.
