More than 15 organizations and hundreds of students participated in Spectacular 2017 on Sunday night.
From pictures of the future Student Center to the Late Night Film Series, students could find out information about many aspects of campus.
Spectacular is hosted by the Student Activities Board in collaboration with the Student Center, Cat’s Den Underground, the Martin Luther King Center, WRFL and New Student and Family Programs, among others. This widespread collaboration makes this event unique.
“Spectacular is always one of our biggest events because we work with so many other organizations,” SAB Director of Public Relations Kirsten Smith said.
This year, Spectacular was held in a different setting than normal due to the new Student Center’s construction.
“Given that we don’t have a student center, this was quite a challenge, but overall I am happy with the location,” SAB Director of Campus Life Bailey Veith said.
“We are located right by freshmen dorms, and if students aren’t 21 there aren’t many things to do around campus,” CatsDen worker Danielle Powell said. “This event helps target new students to campus.”
Students enjoyed free T-shirts, pizza and ice cream while learning about what certain organizations do on campus.
“I was bored on a Sunday night, but the free food and T-shirts were cool,” freshman Patrick Smith said.
DJ Warrren Peace kept the party going with his upbeat, fast tempo music. Many students were seen dancing and enjoying the college atmosphere with friends.
