A man pulled a gun, shot into the air multiple times and then fled early Tuesday morning near the intersection of University Avenue and Crescent Avenue.

The man pulled the gun after a fight erupted on the 1200 block of Crescent, Lexington Police spokeswoman Anne Welch said. One man was transported to the UK Chandler Hospital after being hit in the head with a piece of wood, probably a spindle for a porch, Welch said.

The police made no arrests following the fight.

Many students live in the area of Crescent Avenue. The neighborhood is popular for late-night parties, but some officers told Welch the neighborhood is less busy than in previous years.

“Unfortunately you do occasionally see incidents like this. We see them around Lexington, it’s not just the students returning to the area,” Welch said.
