For Cats fans all over, Saturday’s fourth of July brought out the red, white, and plenty of Big Blue.

Four-star Inside Linebacker and Paintsville, Ky. star Kash Daniel committed to Mark Stoops and the Kentucky football program on Saturday.

Daniel is ranked as the No. 2 player in the state of Kentucky for the class of 2016. The star linebacker chose the Cats over in-state rival Louisville and South Carolina.

Announcing his college decision in the Paintsville High School gym, Daniel became the first Paintsville football player since Joey Couch (who went to UK in 1987) to play for a school in a Power Five conference according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.

Mark Stoops and UK football now have commitments from the top three players in the state – Drake Jackson, Landon Young, and Daniel. All three players will play in the U.S. Army All American Bowl in January.

The Wildcat’s 2016 class will likely move up from the their current spot of No. 15 nationally, now baring four four-star players and 14 three-star players.

What the Wildcats will be getting in Kash Daniel is a versatile player who leads the Paintsville Tigers on offense and defense. In Daniel’s junior year, he produced 111 tackles and four interceptions and quarterbacked 23-touchdowns on offense.
