Alpha Delta Pi spread out an array of brightly colored activities Wednesday on the lawn of their sorority house off of Rose Street in preparation for their paint-themed charity run.

The sorority raised awareness and funds for Saturday’s Color Me Rad 5K, which will benefit their philanthropy, the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass.

Allee Williams, an integrated strategic communications junior in ADPi, said she will participate in the run for the third year that the Greek organization has hosted it.

Williams said the sorority raised about $20,000 over the last two years they hosted, and were looking to raise more money in 2015 than they had in either previous year.

The Ronald McDonald House provides low-cost housing for families of children undergoing medical treatment, according to the organization’s website.

All of the members of ADPi run at the start of the race and also man the color stations, tables and admissions.

Williams said this year she’ll throw the purple paint, as she did during her first year participating.

“My body was (purple) for like three days, I could not get it off,” Williams said. “All the ADPis will be the tie-dye girls after (the race).”

For one dollar, students could throw darts at paint-filled balloons, splattering the board and ground with paint and reveal messages about the color run.

The tables were also filled with neon clothing and accessories, which were used to promote the run in photos shared online and via social media.

“It’s so fun, you can get all decked out when you run,” Williams said. “(You can) just be really dorky.”
