UK football lands another touted recruit to anchor defensive line

Defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton of Pickerington, OH (Pickerington Central) committed to UK on Wednesday night.

The 6-foot-4 and 285-pound defensive tackle committed to the Cats following his official visit to UK on Oct. 25.

Recruited by UK Ohio recruiter Vince Marrow, Hamilton joins the 2015 class after backing out of his commitment to Pittsburgh in June.

The three-star recruit had offers from Pittsburgh and Toledo and was drawing interest from Ball State and Buffalo.

Though he played offensive guard as a junior, Hamilton went through camps as a defensive tackle after having played the position as a senior.

The signing propels UK back into the Top 25 recruiting rankings at No. 25 according to 247Sports.

Hamilton is Marrow’s eighth recruit signed for the 2015 class, with three four-star and five three-star recruits already on the board.

Hamilton finished his senior season at Pickerington Central with 30.5 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss. He will look to bolster a defensive line that will lose senior leaders Bud Dupree and Za’Darius Smith.
