Mark Stoops signs contract extension through the 2019 season

UK announced Friday that head coach Mark Stoops has signed a one-year contract extension through the 2019 season that will pay Stoops $3.85 million in the 2019 season.

Stoops, who was extended May 6 through the 2018 season, has led UK to its largest win total since 2011 with five wins and has led UK to a Top 20 recruiting class in the winter.

“Mark is guiding our program in the direction we all want it to go and we are proud to reward that,” athletics director Mitch Barnhart said in the school release.  “I was confident Mark was right for this job when I hired him, but he has exceeded my expectations.”

Mark Stoops’ base salary contract terms 

2014 season — $2.6 million

2015 season — $2.85 million

2016 season — $3.1 million

2017 season — $3.35 million

2018 season — $3.6 million 

2019 season — $3.85 million (result of extension)
