The UK men’s soccer team maintained its perfect home streak with a 1-0 victory over Xavier on Tuesday. 

The teams were neck and neck throughout regulation, forcing the game into overtime. Wildcat senior forward Justin Laird scored the only goal in the 95th minute after an assist from junior midfielder Bryan Celis and sophomore midfielder Napo Matsoso. It was Laird’s second goal of the season. 

Junior goalkeeper Callum Irving had one crucial save in overtime to keep the Cats alive. UK has now maintained three straight shutout games totaling 202 minutes. 

UK will play host to Furman on Friday, September 19th at 7 p.m. at the Bell Soccer Complex.
