Class of 2015 UK target Luke Kennard commits to Duke

Shooting guard Luke Kennard, the No. 24 overall player in the Class of 2015 according to ESPN, has committed to Duke University.

The five-star guard from Franklin High School in Franklin, Ohio, announced his decision from his high school on March 24 and picked Duke over interest from UK and Ohio State University, among other schools. 

Kennard had been on only one official visit, to Duke on March 7, 2014.  He made five unofficial visits to UK in 2013, 247Sports.com reported.

Kennard was also considering the University of Louisville, Ohio State, the University of Michigan, the University of North Carolina and the University of Florida for his college destination.

The 6-foot-5-inch, 180-pound shooting guard averaged 40 points, 10.4 rebounds and four assists per game in his junior year at Franklin High School, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.

Kennard won the Gatorade Ohio Player of the Year on March 21.

Coach Mike Krzyzewski offered Kennard a scholarship on July 14, 2013, according to 247Sports.com.

Kennard is listed as the No. 8 overall shooting guard in the nation according to ESPN and is the first commitment in the Class of 2015 for head coach Mike Krzyzewski and the Blue Devils.
