Suspect to face grand jury: Man charged with aiding in Johnson’s kidnapping

The man charged with aiding in the kidnapping of Alex Johnson, a chef at the Hilary J. Boone Center whose body was found on Friday, will have his charges reviewed by a Fayette County grand jury, the Lexington Herald-Leader reported.

Timothy Curtis Ballard, 42, was charged with complicity to kidnapping and tampering with evidence in relation to the death of Johnson, who went missing Dec. 20 and whose body was found in a barrel in the Kentucky River.

Robert Markham Taylor, 28, has been charged with murder after being arrested in Texas, near the Mexican border.

The two were acquaintances of Johnson, whose family and friends met Tuesday for a memorial service.

The Fayette County sheriff’s department is working to have Taylor brought back to Lexington.
