Body of missing UK chef found in the Kentucky River

The body of Alex Johnson was pulled from the Kentucky River by the Lexington Fire Department Friday, Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn said.

Thumbprint analysis has identified the body as Johnson’s, a Hilary J. Boone Center chef who has been missing since mid-December.

Johnson’s remains were found in a blue barrel in the Kentucky River between the I-75 bridge and the Old Richmond Road Bridge, Ginn said.

The cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head, Ginn said.

The remains are being released to the J.C. Kirby and Son Funeral Chapels in Bowling Green, Ky., Ginn said.
