Freshman guard James Young is day-to-day after a left shoulder sprain, UK Athletics spokesman John Hayden confirmed to the Kernel.

Brett Dawson of Rivals first reported the news.

Young, who is a left-handed shooter, had impressed UK head coach John Calipari, the head coach said at media day.

But the 6-foot-6-inch guard is the second player to suffer an reported injury during preseason practice. Young’s injury came more than two weeks after sophomore center Willie Cauley-Stein returned to practice after receiving stitches in his right hand during the first preseason practice session of the year.

No information was reported on how the injury occurred or the duration of Young’s recovery other than saying he was day-to-day.
