Sophomore center Willie Cauley-Stein will be sidelined for 10 to 14 days with a right hand injury suffered during “basketball activity,”  UK Athletics spokesman John Hayden confirmed to the Kernel, which first reported the injury on Saturday.

Cauley-Stein was seen at the UK-University of Louisville hockey game on Friday with a soft cast around his right hand.

The 7-foot center from Olathe, Kan., is no stranger to injuries during his time in Lexington, which includes a knee procedure last January during conference play. He missed four games and returned to play four minutes in an overtime win over Texas A&M.

Cauley-Stein played 29 games last season, starting in 14 contests and averaging 8.3 points per game and 6.2 rebounds per game.

Hayden said the injury was “minor” and did not specify when the injury occurred or if Cauley-Stein would be recovered by Big Blue Madness, which is Friday, Oct. 18.
