UK men’s soccer is 2-2-0 headed into the weekend, with upcoming non-conference matchups against Dartmouth College (2-0-2) and University of South Florida (1-1-2).

The weekend matches will take place as part of the Gamecock Classic, hosted by the University of South Carolina at Eugene Stone Stadium.

The Cats suffered a 2-1 defeat against Xavier on Saturday.

After the Musketeers scored in the third minute, UK freshman midfielder Kaelon Fox equalized in the 42nd minute with his first career goal. Xavier senior midfielder Gino De Paoli gave the Musketeers the victory with a goal in the 69th minute.

Sophomore forward Isak Krogstad leads the team with two goals and two assists, while Fox, senior defender Brad Doliner and freshman defender Charlie Reymann each added one goal and one assist.

This is the Cats’ fourth consecutive trip to the Gamecock Classic. UK last won the event in 2011, highlighted by victories over High Point University and Brown University.

UK will take on Dartmouth on Friday at 4:30 p.m., which will be UK head coach Johan Cedergren’s first game against his old team.

Cedergren was an assistant coach at Dartmouth from 2007-2011, during which time he helped the Big Green reach five consecutive NCAA Tournaments.

Dartmouth is undefeated so far this season, having picked up victories against Boston College and the University of Massachusetts, and draws against College of the Holy Cross and Lafayette College.

Dartmouth is led by junior forward Alex Adelabu and junior midfielder Robin Alnas, each with two goals this season.

The Cats and USF will play Sunday at 11 a.m. The Bulls have won only one match this season, beating Stetson University, 1-0.

Senior midfielder Samuel Hosseini, junior forward Kennedy Adablah, senior forward Stiven Salinas and junior forward Edwin Moalosi have each scored a goal for the Bulls.

This is the Cats’ last weekend of games before the Conference USA portion of their schedule begins with a match against University of Alabama-Birmingham on Sept. 29.
