UK freshman center Nerlens Noel was named SEC Freshman of the Year Tuesday, despite tearing his ACL on Feb. 12 against Florida. Noel averaged 10.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.4 blocks in the 24 games he played.
He was also named to the All-SEC First Team, All-Defensive Team and All-Freshman Team.
Noel was joined on the latter by fellow freshmen Willie Cauley-Stein, Archie Goodwin and Alex Poythress.
Sophomore forward Kyle Wiltjer won SEC Sixth Man of the Year, averaging 10.5 points and 4.3 rebounds for the season.
