Hoops comeback in Arkansas, defeat Razorbacks in OT

UK Hoops  (20-3, 8-2 SEC) needed overtime to knock off Arkansas (15-8, 3-7 SEC) 80-74 in Fayetteville, Ark., on Thursday night.

The Cats found themselves down by five heading into the half, and were down by as many as eight as the second half wore on.

Sophomore guard Bria Goss led the Cats comeback with nine second half points as the visitors recovered and forced overtime with the score locked at 64-64.

No. 10 UK pulled ahead in the extra session, outscoring the Razorbacks 16-10 in OT, with Goss adding a further seven points to her tally to finish with a team-high 17 points.

Junior forward Samarie Walker contributed 16 points and six rebounds to the winning cause, going a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe in the process.

Senior guard A’dia Mathies was one rebound shy of a double-double, finishing with 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists in 43 minutes of action.

Twelve points were tallied by junior center DeNesha Stallworth, who also pulled down five rebounds.

The Cats head to Nashville, Tenn., on Sunday for their next contest, a 4 p.m. game against Vanderbilt.
