Actress Ashley Judd, a Kentucky native and UK graduate, said at Thursday’s UK basketball game at Vanderbilt that she is still “thinking about” running against U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell in the 2014 race.

She emphasized that this is not new information and is the same statement she released in November.

“My mom will be the first person to know, then my husband, then everyone else,” she said.

The original statement from November said “I cherish Kentucky, heart and soul, and while I’m very honored by the consideration, we have just finished an election, so let’s focus on coming together to keep moving America’s families, and especially our kids, forward.”

Judd noted how happy the encouragement of her fans made her and declined further comment on the topic. She often attends UK basketball games and currently lives in Tennessee.

Rumors that Judd may run against McConnell, a Republican, have been circulating since fall 2012.
