The New Orleans Hornets have assigned forward Darius Miller to the NBA Development League’s Iowa Energy.

Miller, a native of Maysville, Ky., has appeared in 23 games for the Hornets this season, averaging two points, 1.7 rebounds and one assist in 13.6 minutes per game.

The move is seen as a way of giving Miller a chance to play greater minutes in order to aid his development.

Following a four-year career at UK, which ended with an NCAA National Championship in April, Miller was drafted 46th overall by the Hornets at the 2012 NBA Draft.

Miller is set to make his Energy debut this coming Saturday against the Reno Bighorns.
