UK picked to win the SEC

 A panel 0f SEC media members picked the UK basketball team to win the Southeastern Conference in the 2012-13 season.

The Cats received 328 total points, 18 ahead of second-place Florida. UK’s 17 first-place votes were nearly three times that of Florida, who received five.

UK freshman Nerlens Noel was chosen as preseason All-SEC first team. Fellow freshman Alex Poythress was selected to the second team.

Noel also received three votes for preseason SEC Player of the Year. Others garnering votes were Missouri junior Phil Pressey, who was voted preseason SEC Player of the Year, Florida senior Kenny Boynton, Arkansas’ BJ Young and Tennessee’s Jarnell Stokes.
