Junior forward Dylan Asher has been named National Offensive Player of the Week by College Soccer News.

The announcement comes after scoring four goals in two games, including the eighth hat trick in UK Soccer history.

Asher made his first two career starts at forward this week, with junior forward Tyler Riggs out with an injury.

Head coach Johan Cedergren commented on Asher’s play following the 5-1 win over FIU.

“I think Dylan laughed when I brought him into my office and told him I wanted him to start up top, but obviously it worked out. He can play anywhere on the field. “

Asher was also named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career. He is the second Wildcat to receive a conference player of the week honor this season, after Jack Van Arsdale was named Defensive Player of the Week in September.

The Cats are now 8-6-1, 3-1-1 in C-USA, and are looking to Tulsa for their fourth straight conference win Saturday night.
