Speculation regarding the resignation of UK football head coach Joker Phillips was confirmed to be “absolutely false,” according to UK spokesman Tony Neely.
Friday message board and Twitter rumors caused a stir with the possibility of Phillips resigning after being informed by UK athletic director Mitch Barnhart he wouldn’t return next season.
Phillips’ position with the team had been up for debate by fans following his 32-31 overtime loss to Western Kentucky and impending 38-0 shutout to the Florida Gators last season.
He and his Cats now set their sights on a 7 p.m. meeting with the No. 7 South Carolina, which defeated UK 54-3 last season in Columbia.
