Cram Jam gives students time to relax

For students at UK, finals week can be the most stressful time of the semester.

Student Government sponsored a pre-finals Cram Jam Thursday night at Memorial Coliseum from 6 to 9 p.m. where students could get away from the stress finals bring.

Tamika Tompoulidis, sophomore director of student organizations, organized all of the 56 volunteers that worked the event.

“It was something to relieve students stress, for them to relax, and have a little fun during dead week,” Tompoulidis said.

SG’s deputy chief of staff for campus issues, Clay Lampl, said,

“Tamika did a great job coordinating all the volunteer efforts.”

The event included service dogs, snack and massage booths, music and an inflatable obstacle course for students.

The first 1,500 students admitted also received free t-shirts.

For Joseph Kabazie, junior student organization ambassador, it was his first year volunteering at Cram Jam.

“Cram Jam is something we can give back to the students,” Kabazie said. “It makes finals so much easier.”

Not only was Cram Jam a success in providing a stress-free environment for students, but it was also a success in allowing students to meet new people.

Freshman Taban Flores said, “It really helps students connect. It’s a way to meet people who are going through similar situations as us.”

“Everything went so smoothly. I’m thankful for all of the volunteers who made Cram Jam such a great success,” Tompoulidis said.
