President Barack Obama called head coach John Calipari Tuesday to congratulate him and the team on their eighth national championship.

Obama told Calipari the team “played with class and dignity,” and that it was great to watch, according to a White House news release.

The release said Calipari gave the phone to freshman forward Anthony Davis and Obama congratulated him on his Final Four Most Outstanding Player Award.

Obama said he looks forward to meeting the team at the White House.
