Vanderbilt coach unhappy with UK’s SEC schedule

For the second year in a row, UK doesn’t have to play a Thursday-Saturday game combination in SEC play.

Vanderbilt head coach Kevin Stallings isn’t too happy about that.

Stallings said it’s “not right,” according to The Tennessean.

Compounding UK’s lack of playing two games in the three days is that they play four opponents who will be on the tail end of a Thursday-Saturday combo.

“Go figure that one out for me, would you?” Stallings said. “We all agreed to do it, so if you have one like we have one, I’m not going to complain with the one that we have. To not have any and to be able to play four teams that have to do it to play you … I don’t think it’s right for somebody not to have any and to play four different times when their opponents have to play them on short order. That’s not fair and it’s not equitable, and something needs to be done about that.”

UK has played one Thursday-Saturday combination when it played St. John’s on a Thursday and North Carolina two days later. The closest the Wildcats come to replicating that in SEC play is a Thursday-Sunday combination to close the season.

UK and Vanderbilt meet on Feb. 11.

  1. i live in the nashville area, and kevin stallings is one big cry baby he would complain if he played the opposite!

  2. I agree…it seems unfair…but then again, maybe Stallings should petition the NCAA and their officiating crews and explain to them what a charge/block foul is…

  3. Stallings has always been a cry baby. He needs to grow up and move on!!If he is so unhappy, fall out of the SEC!!!
