UK’s Mark Coyle named Boise State AD

Mark Coyle, UK deputy director of athletics, was named Boise State’s athletic director Thursday.

Coyle had been in that position since Sept. 2010. Previous to that, he was senior associate athletics director for external affairs since 2005.

“The work he’s done in terms of facilities and donor relationships has been tremendous,” UK Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart said in a statement. “Boise State made a great choice and he’ll be missed by the Wildcat family. Mark is ready and capable to lead a Division I program.”

Coyle’s new position makes him the fourth former UK administrator to be named an athletic director at another school.

“I’m incredibly excited for Mark and his family,” Barnhart said. “Mark has been a great asset to the University of Kentucky over the last seven year and I’m happy that he’s getting this opportunity.”
