While the increasingly digital world we live in and the definition of innovative is always evolving, associate dean of administration for UK’s College of Design Mark O’Bryan, exhibits new designs with an old process.

On Monday, O’Bryan will give a lecture called “The World Dwelling” on his creative process and how he goes about making his work and designs. The event is sponsored by the Student Activities Board Cultural Arts Committee.

“Students will be interested in seeing his work because architecture is entering into the digital world and he is still into hands-on creative art-making,” said Shannon Ruhl, a junior architecture student and organizer of the event.

Ruhl, also the director of SAB’s Cultural Arts committee, said that O’Bryan is always producing new things.

“We asked Mark [O’Bryan] because we looked into his work and I had him as a professor,” Ruhl said. “He produces really beautiful work; high quality work.”

Cultural Arts committee chair Leslie Foster said that student and professor exhibits have done well at UK.

“We thought having him would be good for the UK community,” Foster said. “He is supposed to be really good in his field.”

The Lecture begins at 6 p.m. at Pence Hall with a catered reception following the lecture from 7-9 p.m. in the Rasdall Gallery located in the Student Center.

O’Bryan’s exhibit “Architecture and Artwork” will be on display at the Rasdall Gallery from Oct. 24 through Nov. 9.
