A man was struck by a train early Friday morning, at the end of Burley Avenue.

Kyle Ginnever, a 22-year-old from Lexington, was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:20 a.m., according to the Fayette County Coroner’s office.

A Facebook profile belonging to a Lexington resident of the same name says that man is from Union, Ky.

Lexington Police responded to Virginia Avenue and Export Street at 4:13 a.m., after a 911 call from a train operator, Lexington Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts said. The operator said the train struck a pedestrian who was lying on the tracks.

The cause of death is listed as multiple blunt force trauma, and Lexington Police are investigating the death as an accident.

The coroner processed the scene, Roberts said, and detectives are continuing to investigate.

She said there is currently no indication that alcohol was a factor.

It is not yet known if Ginnever was a student in Lexington, but UK spokeswoman Kathy Johnson said the man was not a UK student.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
