Jones, Knight finalists for a Freshman of the Year award

Terrence Jones and Brandon Knight are among five finalists for the Wayman Tisdale Award.

The award will be presented to the National Freshman of the Year, as selected by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.

The other three candidates are Jared Sullinger (Ohio State), Tristan Thompson (Texas) and Perry Jones III (Baylor).

The USBWA has chosen a national freshman of the year since the 1988-89 season, although this is the first year the award has been named after Wayman Tisdale. Past winners include:
