Brandon Knight was named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week after averaging 18.5 points, 5.5 rebounds , 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals in two games against Alabama and South Carolina.

Knight has eight 20-point games on the year, one short of tying a UK freshman record held by Patrick Patterson and Rex Chapman.

The awards is Knight’s fourth this season, and the ninth for Kentucky. Terrence Jones has received the Freshman of the Week award three times. Josh Harrellson and Doron Lamb have both been named Player of the Week once.

Vanderbilt’s Lance Goulbourne was named SEC Player of the Week after averaging 14.5 points and 13.0 rebounds in wins over Ole Miss and No. 22 St. Mary’s.
