Kentucky Press Association recognizes Kernel

 

 

The Kentucky Press Association presented the Kentucky Kernel with 31 awards for its Excellence in Kentucky Newspapers contest Friday night.

The Kernel won nine first-place awards, 11 second-place awards, five third-place awards, six honorable mentions and the General Excellence Award for its overall work during the year.

The four newspapers competing with the Kernel were the College Heights Herald of Western Kentucky University, the Louisville Cardinal of the University of Louisville, the Murray State News of Murray State University and the Eastern Progress of Eastern Kentucky University.

The College Heights Herald won 25 awards, the Louisville Cardinal won 20 awards, Murray State News won 18 awards and Eastern Progress won four awards.
