The UK Information Technology center has been experiencing technical problems with the UK e-mail system since Friday, said customer service representative David King.

King said a combination of increased SPAM and the failure of two out of the four e-mail gateways caused the problem.

King said parts to repair both gateways had been ordered but IT was still waiting on the parts for one as of Wednesday at 2 p.m.

King said half of his calls Wednesday were complaints about the problem and he had heard of delays ranging from one hour to a day.

IT is working around the clock to fix the problem and hopes to have it done soon, according to the center’s Web site.
