UK made another step toward upgrading its athletic facilities on Wednesday, hiring a consultant and a law firm to aid the university in its efforts to improve Commonwealth Stadium and construct a new baseball facility and a new downtown arena, according to a UK news release.
The consultant will be responsible for determining the feasibility of the plans for the construction and renovations, which are expected to be paid for entirely through private funds.
The law firm will be responsible for reviewing the terms of the relationship between the university, the city and Lexington Center Corporation during the construction and use of the proposed downtown arena.
No timeline has been established for the renovations.
Cobb questionable for Georgia
Sophomore wide receiver Randall Cobb is questionable for UK’s game against Georgia on Saturday, UK head coach Rich Brooks announced at practice Wednesday. Cobb is recovering from a bruised shoulder suffered in UK’s 24-13 win over Vanderbilt.

Cobb missed practice earlier in the week. He tried to practice Wednesday, but was unable to finish. He did not play in UK’s 37-12 win over Eastern Kentucky with a thumb injury.
Cobb leads UK with 32 receptions for 384 yards and four touchdowns. He is second on the team with 396 rushing yards, and has scored seven times on the ground. He has also returned one punt for a touchdown.
