The Kentucky Kernel received a fake news release Wednesday evening concerning the “Wildcat Coal Lodge.”
The document claimed the UK Athletic Association Board of Directors asked the Board of Trustees to reconsider the naming of the new men’s basketball dorm.
UK Athletics Spokesman DeWayne Peevy confirmed the document did not come from anyone in the athletics department and UK Athletics did not request that the board reconsider its decision.
The contact listed in the e-mail was William Berry, claiming to be a UKAA media relations assistant.
When asked about the validity of the e-mail, Berry hung up on a Kernel reporter.
