Wilson’s case continued for one month

October 1, 2009 by BW Jones · 3 Comments

Freshman linebacker Ridge Wilson’s court date for fourth-degree assault has been continued until Oct. 29.

Wilson was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday morning, but it was decided to postpone the case for four weeks.

Wilson pleaded not guilty on Sept. 16. He turned himself in to police on Tuesday, Sept. 15 after striking a girl in the face on Monday, Sept. 14. Wilson was suspended from the football team but reinstated on Sept. 26 before the Florida game.

“Situations of this type are totally unacceptable on our football team, but, at the same time, this is the first incident of any negative nature he has had while on campus since last summer,” Brooks said in the Sept. 26 statement. “We understand there will be ongoing legal deliberations in this case as well as pending university student conduct discussions. We expect to comply fully with all of their findings. There will be no further comment until all the legal issues are resolved.”

As an active member of the AAU here is how football players of the NCAA keep their scholarships even when they have ‘problems with the local police’ : The Provost receives the Athletic Budget and reviews it with the Athletic Director, including the total available for athletic scholarships. The Athletic Director determines scholarships allotments to each team. The head coach and assistant coaches for that sport recommend to the Athletic Director which student receives what amount.

Prior to the start of each semester, the Financial Aid Office will generate a “Focus Report” on all Student-Athletes for that semester and submit it to the Director of Athletics, who in turn reviews the report and forwards it to the Provost and President for approval.”

THIS IS TRUE BUT IF HE IS GUILTY OF THE MISDEMEANOR BROOKS MADE A BIG MISTAKE. I JUST CAN NOT SEE ANYONE BEING PUNCHED IN THE FACE BY THIS YOUNG MAN AND LIVING TO TELL ABOUT IT. IF YOU PUSH SOMEONE OUT OF YOUR FACE YOU ARE GUILTY OF FOURTH -DEGREE ASSAULT. I SEE THIS EACH DAY AT WORK, WE HAVE A HOSTILE WORK PLACE ENVIRONMENT.
