What about a college class that was encouraged to set up a private listserve to give students a private place to vent. The next year the following class set up their closed listserve, but when the posts made while venting were shown to the administration of the college, four students were kicked out of the university. Forty students were also placed on probation for wearing a solidarity T-shirt to protest. This happened a few short years ago at Your University of Kentucky.
