For some it’s an addiction, others could care less, but no one can deny the fact that the bright lights of Hollywood have become an inescapable part of our lives. Television, movies, music and the glamorous lifestyles of Hollywood’s elite have consumed our world, and play an integral role in our culture.
Some students might just be beginning their time at UK while others are counting down the days until graduation. As the first days of classes commence, and the smell of dusty book pages is released into the air, it might be refreshing to read something that isn’t in a textbook.
Every Monday I will be bringing you some tales of Tinseltown. After all, what would school be without a little bit of gossip?
I will be providing the latest Hollywood highlights with a Kentucky twist. You may find yourself asking, “What does Hollywood have to do with my life?” The truth is, Hollywood is a direct reflection of our culture and we could learn a lot from the trials and tribulations of superstar celebs.
Although they are living very different lives, they are still people who make mistakes, and their mistakes are under the media microscope.
College is a time for living and learning and everyone is bound to have a few mishaps along the way. As we deal with school, family, romances, friendships and all other aspects of life here at UK, I will be giving you some Hollywood scoop with a dash of blue.
As school begins and fall arrives, we can look forward to football games, Keeneland, and another riveting season of new movies and television shows.
Hollywood will be bringing a slew of new movies, and a fresh fall television line-up that is sure to bring in some rave reviews. Here is a little preview of what you can expect this season:
Big things are being delivered from the movie industry as they will be serving up some remakes — Tim Burton’s interpretation of “Alice In Wonderland” is sure to be a visual spectacle — and sequels – “Iron Man 2” introduces some new villains, with Jon Favreau back in the director’s chair. There are also some innovative films in the works, including a compilation of Michael Jackson’s final concert footage, which is set to rock theaters on October 28th.
While new features are hitting the big screen, the small screen is cooking up some hits of its own. Familiar faces return with the likes of Courtney Cox in ABC’s “Cougar Town,” Julianna Margulies in ABC’s “The Good Wife,” Mischa Barton in the CW’s “The Beautiful Life,” and Chevy Chase in NBC’s “Community.”
While new hits are taking to the airwaves, old favorites return. “30 Rock,” “Gossip Girl,” “Heroes,” “House” and the Emmy-nominated animated comedy “Family Guy” will all return this season.
Also, new changes are in store for fans of late night television. Jay Leno will be taking advantage of the early bird special, as he steps into the 10 p.m. primetime spot on NBC. The Jay Leno Show will premiere on September 14th, so set your TiVo’s now.
As we start the semester, I would like to ask for your ideas on what Hollywood gossip you would like to read about. Have a great semester and I hope you enjoy the Hollywood gossip gone blue.
