Kentucky’s minimum wage workers will soon see an increase in their $6.55 per hour paychecks.
Beginning July 1, the state’s minimum wage will raise to $7.25 per hour. The federally mandated wage increase doesn’t go into effect until July 24, but the Kentucky General Assembly voted for the hike to take effect earlier.
“This increase is significant for many Kentucky workers who, like others, have been struggling during these difficult economic times,†said Kentucky Labor Secretary J.R. Gray in a news release.
Minimum wage for tipped employees will remain at $2.13 per hour.
Any questions regarding the wage increase can be directed to the Kentucky Labor Cabinet at labor.desam@ky.gov or (502) 564-3534.
