Meeks to stay in NBA Draft

Senior guard Jodie Meeks has decided to keep his name in the NBA Draft and forego his senior season, according to a UK Athletics news release.

Meeks averaged a Southeastern Conference high 23.7 points per game and set the UK record for points scored in a game with 54 at Tennessee.

“I want to thank the fans and the city of Lexington. They have been great and I will always be a Kentucky Wildcat,” Meeks said in the news release. “I feel comfortable with my decision and I’m confident in my ability. My family and I talked over the weekend and decided this was the best decision.”

The 2009 NBA Draft will be aired on ESPN on June 25.
